Scientists have started to wonder if microscopic plastic particles are released when we wash our clothes in the washer and dryer. This thought has been a theory for a long time since there has been no physical proof that has been seen. When the professor from Plymouth, Richard Thompson looked at the mass, quantity, and size of fibers that are in the water that is left after using the washer, he change the wonder into a fact. He discovered that 700,000 microscopic fibers drain down the washer creating a threat for the ecosystem. these fibers adsorb toxins and are easily ingested by animals. researchers are searching for ways to reduce this release. Who knew that just washing your clothes is harming the environment. This is not a known problem and i think it should be announced more so people are more aware of what they are placing into thei environment.
