Testosterone is seen as the hormone that male animals and humans posses to make them bigger and stronger. This week it hasn't been newly identified as the female meerkats special advantage. The females can produce more testosterone than the males. This breed of meerkats are located in the southern tip of Africa .
Personally I think this is amazing. Ive only been taught in my life that males are the only ones that posses testosterone so learning otherwise Is amazing. It's very interesting that the women produce more than the males. I wonder if there are any other similiar animals that have women dominant in the production.

The Giant panda is no longer endangered. The Giant panda originates from the Chinese bamboo forests. Many foundations have taken the Giant Panda and made it their goal to advertise it. For example the World Wildlife Fund has made the Giant Panda their poster animal. Because of this awareness that has been spread from these companies, the population of the pandas have increased by 17% since 2014. This percentage increase has been considered a huge improvement because of the 50 years of endangerment. however just because the giant Panda has avoided extinction this does not mean the community should just stop taking conservative measures. The panda still needs a safety net so they don't start to go extinct again. I believe the Giant panda population rise is a huge triumph. The pandas are a very cute species that deserve to stay alive. The hunting of them is uncalled for. Also the ruining of their forests are is horrible and needs to stop entirely not just partially. I hope to see the population increase even more within the next couple of years. Scientists have started to wonder if microscopic plastic particles are released when we wash our clothes in the washer and dryer. This thought has been a theory for a long time since there has been no physical proof that has been seen. When the professor from Plymouth, Richard Thompson looked at the mass, quantity, and size of fibers that are in the water that is left after using the washer, he change the wonder into a fact. He discovered that 700,000 microscopic fibers drain down the washer creating a threat for the ecosystem. these fibers adsorb toxins and are easily ingested by animals. researchers are searching for ways to reduce this release. Who knew that just washing your clothes is harming the environment. This is not a known problem and i think it should be announced more so people are more aware of what they are placing into thei environment. During the summer, the arctic is buzzing with insects who play a major part in keeping the variety of plants alive. The pollinators of these plants in the arctic are small flies. These small flies are very similar to the flies humans hate most. These flies are disappearing at a fast rate. Climate change is causing the flies to slowly die off and the flowers they pollinate to die off as well. The flies play a major part in the ecosystem and without them the whole ecosystem will be thrown off. Flies are one of the things that bother me the most and i cant help but try and kill them. Where I live killing flies is what everyone does when the insect buzzes in their ear, so the fact that the species are in danger in the Arctic is a new concept to me. The flies not being there is dangerous to the plants and potentiallt to humans because with no plants no oxygen is produced. Myth: Its not us The myth is saying that the warming of the earth was not caused by man and was a natural effect. The contribution from humans were so little that it shouldn't even be a concern. This myth was proven wrong because of the human fingerprint that proves the fact that human greenhouse gas emissions have caused this warming. Myth: CO2 was higher in the past This myth is saying that CO2 levels were greater in the Ordovician era. Based off the IPCC theory there should have been a greenhouse induced global warming for the CO2 levels to be high but instead there was glaciation. This is not true because the Ordovician glaciation didn't last long and was instead small. You can see hoe small this glaciation was when you compare it to all others. The fact that it was so long ago creates many uncertainties and there are many factors proving the glaciation was not caused by CO2. Marine life is becoming a major concern in Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Colombia. The leaders in this country are meeting to create reserves that will protect the marine life. The Ocean is home to the most diverse ecosystems. These homes are being destroyed due to the acidity and poaching pollution. Some countries have already made sanctuary's along the coastline to protect the worlds largest shark populations. because of this meeting the countries all decided to also protect 10% of the worlds oceans by 2020. The countries are very serious about this decision that they have even established a surveillance system to keep the oceans safe. This is a very important step that I believe more countries need to take. the fact that they created a surveillance system just proves how serious they are and how much they care for these ocean species. The ruining of the oceans are a huge problem in the world and watching there be steps to change it is creating hope that things mat change. Coca-cola gives back for the amount of water they have used to produce their product. They made a goal themselves to give back for every drop they have used. This goal was achieved and it was achieved 5 years sooner than expected. The goal was doubted by many people, including Amit Srivastana who is a global resistance director. he was proven wrong when 248 water partnerships helped coca-cola. Coca-Cola was able to return 191.9 billions of water to human communities and nature. This came out to a total of 115% of water the company used in water to make their beverages that year. This is an amazing goal and the fact that it was accomplished is even more amazing. All companies should follow in Coca-Colas footsteps and do the same. They don't have to have the same exact goal but they should give back and return some of what they took from the environment to create their product. Coca-Cola is an amazing company and i hope they continue to do what they are doing. The republican nominee for the 2016 presidential election has a very controversial promise. Donald Trump has set his heart on building a wall on the border separating Mexico and the US. Not only is this wall morally wrong, it is also ecologically wrong. The wall will affect the ecosystem poorly if something is not done to prevent the wall. the fence that is already in place has damaged the environment already and the wall would just double the harm. The wall would keep wildlife from naturally moving which is an important factor of animal life. All of the animals who are endangered will go extinct when they lose their homes. Trump supporters need to know all of the concerns that come along with building the wall and hopefully think again before supporting the production of such a wall. The environment will be permanently damaged and will ruin the food chains and all that is necessary for an ecosystem to survive. Coffee pods are also known as K cups used in the new popular automatic coffee machine called the Keurig. The Keurig requires a certain cup that the coffee is stored in and is placed inside of the machine in replacement of the coffee filter that other machines use. The Keurig has taken control and is set to sell millions within the next couple years. However these new cups are not biodegradable and are hazardous to the world. The cups are not recyclable and end up in landfills. The k cups tale 150 to 500 years to disintegrate. Personally I used to use the K cups in my coffee machine but since reading this article I've found a washable K cup that i can pour coffee in and reuse multiple times. This eliminates the idea of filling up landfills and is even more reliable and safe then using the coffee in the k cups. The bananas that we were once used to went extinct because of the panama disease infecting them. This disease spread and spread quickly worrying the farmers all over the world. Luckily the inferior product Cavendish Cultivar was immune to the disease gaining the interest of all of the worried farmers. This new product became the new bananas that everyone is used to even today. This product tastes the same no matter where it's at and has no diversity within it. Unfortunately this non diversity became a problem when a new strain of disease came along infecting the bananas for a second time. They are trying to find a way to control it but farmers are getting scared that the extinction will happen again and are hurriedly looking for a new product to use just in case. Personally I think this is a problem that needs to be solved quickly. If bananas are being changed to a taste a new way it would be easier to ease in slowly than suddenly. Bananas are many people's favorite fruit and need to be saved for their sake whether it's a new product or just a contained disease. |
